Sunday Selfies: Week #130
I was happily napping in a sunpuddle on the heated kitchen floor when Mom stuck her phone in my face. She demanded that I take a selfie. How rude! I twisted and turned and hid my face, but she wouldn’t go away. I finally gave up and obliged her, snapping two quick photos. She seemed satisfied and left me alone after that.
I didn’t have too much trouble taking the photos, but I did have a problem figuring out where I was supposed to look. I did move a bit as well, so my photos are a tad blurry.
I am your host today, but not because I want to be. I am pretty miffed lately. I used to be the baby of the family, but I have been replaced by that new guy…you know the one, stripy orange furs and a super expressive face.
As the baby, it was my job to chase the other kitties and wrassle with Mau before dinner. Now Cooper is chasing everyone, including me. And Mau doesn’t show up for dinner until it is served and so has no time for wrassling. MOUSES!
At least Cooper Murphy spends most of the daylight hours on the catio watching the birdies and squirrels. It’s like he’d never seen either before he came here. While he’s outside, I can stay inside and be the baby again. I can’t wait for Daylight Saving Time to begin!
At least he does not get up on the humans’ bed. He tried it once and landed right in Misty May’s face. She let him know she was not amused. He hasn’t tried that again. And he better not, if he knows what is good for him. There is no room for a ginger cat.
Mom says that ‘s enough rant, and I just complete my host duties. So…
This is our Sunday Selfies blog hop. We do it every week, and we sure appreciate all of those who join. You can be part of the fun by using the link below. You can also grab the code that allows you to add the hop to your own blog. If you do this, would you please be so kind as to link back to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge. Thank you!
Purrs and paw-pats, Calista Jo (former baby of the Kitties Blue Krew)
p.s. The hop remains open through Thursday.
Aww…you will get it all sorted out. It is funny: I thought Chloe Jo would hate not being the baby. She has loved George from the moment she saw him, when he was only days old! She loved all of the babies she has met. But, she never changed her view of herself. She still thinks she is The Baby. George has passed her in maturity, too. She is right. She will always be The Baby here. Hugs.
CJ, you look beautiful in your selfies, even if you weren’t happy about taking them. You are always looking beautiful though. Sorry to hear that Cooper Murphy has been giving you a hard time. Things will settle I’m sure, you will go back to being the baby! Babies can’t be replaced!
Sampy sends 982634857623094875 kisses to Astrid, and we all send lots of love!!
At least you’ll always be the baby girl Calisto Jo! Your selfies are very pretty!
Momma Fir is glad to join all the beautiful, handsome and talented kitties at the Hop!
Thank you for inviting us.

You will always be the babe, Calista Jo. And the prettiest. And the most apt to take a great selfie when you most don’t want to. We think your photo looks great!
Hi Calista Joe, hope that Cooper figures out you need your wrassling and chasing time too. Maybe a nudge or too might get Mau in the wrassling mood with you?
Boys!! They sure likes to takes over… you am still the baby girl.
Purrz, Katie Kitty Too.
we hope things areOK Calista Jo, we are doing the Sunday Selfies rounds now 🙂
Darling CJ, It’s hard to be replaced by some *interloper* especially if he is stealing Mau from you when you don’t want to share him! Aw, I am sending you some smoochies to soothe you . . . but don’t tell Misty May, OK? XOXOXO
Beautiful selfies, sweet girl! I know you’re upset but there’s room in your humans’ hearts to love everyone the same 🙂
Aww Calista Jo. Adjusting to new furry friends can be hard. You will get used to the new lifestyle. However that was very rude of Mom to stick the camera in your face. My boys tell me it is not allowed.
Calista Jo, I think you took an excellent selfie. Looking into the camera is not required.
It will take some time for all of you to adjust to your new roles. Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy not being the baby of the family anymore.
Lovely selfie, Calista Jo ! Zorro loves to see your beautiful green eyes ! He sends you a kiss. Purrs

What a beautiful job! I have a feeling that warmer weather you’ve been looking for is right around the corner, despite what the groundhog says. When the wee one is ensconced in the catio, your reign in the house will be restored. I can just feel it!
Jean from Welcome to the Menagerie
You’re lookin’ very purretty. Me fur sure unnerstands not bein’ da baby of da house anymore. It’s not fun. But, there are some advantages to bein’ da older siblin’. You get to tell da newbie what to do and how and when to do it. But, dat bedtime thing…me says da more da merrier. It’s cold here and da more furs to cuddle da warmer you are. MOL Big hugs fur all.
Luv ya’

Well…now listen…Cooper M is a dude kitty and *you* are a gal…so….you are still the baby in that regard! And thoguh we may be mancats…gals are always the baby in petcretary’s eyes.
Your selfie is sweet, and because you are way younger than our twelve years, you will always be a baby to us, MOL!!
Oh boy…do we ever know about orange cats…nothing but trouble…but they seem to be irresistible to humans! Purrs from the Zee/Zoey kitties!
My Mom said when her brother was born she was mad that she wasn’t the “baby” anymore! Mom was the baby for 6 years!! Love, Cody
You took great selfies, Mom still loves you as much as before the new baby arrived. She is just trying to make Cooper feel at home
Well…you are still the most beautiful Baby Girl, Calista Jo!
Smileys!
Dory, Jakey, Arty & Bilbo
Calista Jo, your selfie is gorgeous – just like you. In spite of Cooper Murphy being the BABY remember…..he’s the Baby BOY….YOU are the Baby Girl!!! See? You are still the baby!!!
The Florida Furkids with eleventy billion smoochies and tons of love to Mau from Allie
Thank you for turning me onto the Kitten Bowl. I did a selfie with the darling little grey kitty but there is a bit of space between us. Not matter. It was fun! What lovely kitties you have in your amazing family.
But WHAT is that on Ernie’s HEAD—a beer holder?
There is always a slight adjustment period to a new member but soon it’ll be like everyone has been together always! Calista Jo you always look lovely!
Calista Jo we know about new kitties. A few years ago Dad brought a small ball of fur home and spent ALL his time with him. We put up with it as the little scrap was really sick and needed all of Dads nursing skills to keep him alive. We started feeling sorry for him so when he was better we accepted him into the family. That may have been a mistake as he started exactly the same unacceptable behaviors as Cooper Murphy!! Thank Catness Rumpy Bump took over his care. He is a bit better now. Whew.
Give the little guy some time and he will fit right in Calista Jo. Now that is not to say that you will be chummy with him. You have Tortie Tude which gives you a purrogative to be, shall we say, stand offish. Our Miss Fitz has Tabby Tude and she whack Einstein when he gets too close MOL. She says to give her a call if you want to discuss whack and chase strategies.
Timmy and family
Meow Calista Jo!
Meowmie Debby said, “Calista Jo is a tortie? Well that explains the rant!”
In tortie solidarity, I am ranting too! YOWL! YOWL! YOWL! YOWL!
I am also an old lady cat, so I think I am entitled.

Your selfies are so pretty, just like you!
Happy Selfie Sunday, Calista Jo! There seems to be a theme here. My sun puddles were also interrupted for a selfie. Love, Lexy
Calista Jo I know you are sad that you are not the baby of the family and more but I know your folks well enough that they love each of you and there hearts have so much room for you all. Try to get along it will make for a happier day.
Calista Jo, those are beautiful selfies and you will always be the baby. XO
It sure can be tough passing that torch to the newbie, Calista Jo. But, perhaps you and Cooper could become best furiends, maybe team up and be partners in crime! And surely your mom and dad would still be happy to consider you their baby. Also, you’re adorable! Purrs to you!
You took a very nice selfie!
Calista Jo, we’re sorry you think Cooper Murphy is taking your place, but he’s not , you know. Just think of the wonderful thing you all did for him by giving him such a great home.
It’s not fun giving up the fun baby position, is it?!
We are sorry you are so unhappy CALISTA JO!!!!! Being a big sister has it’s advantages you can teach Cooper Murphy stuff and we bet he would like to wrestle with you. We thinks next time he chases you, you should let him catch you and bunny kick him.
I know how you feel, but things change. I was the youngest one at work for a long time and now I am not even close to the bottom. What happened?
Hi Calista Jo, we think you’re entitled to a rant every now and then, but try not to be too hard on Cooper, for a while at least. These mancats need to learn the ropes first, then you can get back to some wrassling and an all round lovely lass.
Purrs, Erin
It’s hard to lose your spot as the baby of the family. Maybe someday you’ll decide that the new ginger guy is actually kind of fun. Maybe? We enjoyed seeing your selfies!
We love your effect and thank you for sharing!!
Well if anyone understands I do, Calista Jo. I have this problem because my mom sometimes diverts her attention from ME to pay attention to OTHERS- like Peaches!!! Here are some coping strategies when she is petting him and ignoring YOU: 1) knock something over which makes a loud noise 2) start chewing on something loudly which is not food- (don’t swallow), sprint around the house at top speed looking crazed. All of these tricks have worked for me once or more & I recommend them highlly. – signed, Paprika the Cat
Great selfie, Calista Jo!
Don’t worry about Cooper, we’re sure you mum loves you all equally 🙂
Purrs xx

Well Calista Jo I can’t blame you for the rant – a new guy in the family and you kinda feel like he took your place but trust me…..he didn’t….he made a “NEW” place in the family and I just know you will always be your Mom and Dad’s “baby”! Happy Sunday to ALL the KB Krew!
Love, Angel Sammy
That’s not nice being replaced, but your mum choose you for the selfie and that is very nice !!
You made us laugh, Calista Jo, not because of your Selfies, they are Outstanding! but of your little brother. We pictured it all 😀 What goes around comes around, huh..MOL 😀 One thing we are sure of is that you will always be your mommies little girl too. Pawkisses for a Happy Easy Sunday and thanks for hosting this wonderful bloghop 🙂 <3
Calisat Jo. I am Mum’s baby and I am nearly the oldest. Have faith you have your place in your Mum’s heart.
Harvey
Wow, I hope Binga and Boodie didn’t think of me like that when I moved in here!
Sigh… I (Tsunami)( know your pain. I have had to endure not one but two interlopers, as I like to call them, raining down on my reign as sole heir to the throne. But don’t worry dear Calista Jo – I’ve learned that once that interloper cuteness wears off, you’ll find you are still the sweet baby and angel of your mama’s heart!
Calista Joe, mes thinks yous did a most excellent rant and a terrific selfie. Mes knows siblings, especially new ones is a pain too. But yous knows your pawrents has lots of room in their hearts for each and everyone of yous.

Kisses darling

Awww no one can take any of your places, there is a place for each and everyone of you,xxx Speedy
No one could ever take your place, Calista Jo. Your selfies are beautiful … and it looks like you had a great sunpuddle there too! Poor Cooper … I imagine he had no idea what happened with Misty May … she sure knows how to get her point across, right?
Lovely girl, we KNOW your pain! It’s just been 2 years since the kittens (yes, Mom still calls them that!) came to live here. Our lives have never been the same….
Sending you comfort and solace while you break in the newbie. MOL!
XOXO
Calisto Jo we love your selfies. We also understand your rant as Cow Kitty comes in and mom plays with him. can you believe it…she actually plays with the dude? I think it’s wrong myself but mom doesn’t listen to me.
You are a beautiful calico girl. Mom has a soft spot for Calicos.
Luvs,
Shoko
Calista Jo, we like your selfies today, even if you kind of had to take them under duress. And Cooper Murphy is cute and all, and he may be the youngest, but you can always still be the baby. Zoe and Gracie are the babies here, and they are 13 years old. 🙂
Big hugs to you all, sweet friends. Please tell Mom Janet that I got some okay photos of Charlotte, and will send them soon.
