Sunday Selfies: Week #114

We have a guest host for this week’s Sunday Selfies blog hop. This little interloper was in our backyard about a week ago. When he discovered our dad was snapping photos of him, he requested help with taking some selfies.

wild bunny

Even though several of us were on the catio, we didn’t see this hopper. Misty May was in the backyard, and mom was afraid she’d see this little guy and pounce, but she never did. After about an hour he hopped away. Mom says that’s the first time she ever saw a bunny in our yard.

Mom is really hoping that we’ll see this little guy again.

Years and years ago, Mom and Dad raised a baby bunny after its mommy was hit by a car. Mom named it Jelly Bean. She was certain she’d written about it here on the blog but cannot find the post. Figures! Since she can’t find it, we asked if we could share a moldy, oldy photo of her with Jelly Bean. She said, “okay,” and here it is.

OMC…get a load of those glasses. Could they have been any bigger?

Cat4-001Anyhoo…we know you are accustomed to seeing a bunny on our hop, as our friend, Speedy, is here pretty much every week. Nonetheless, we hope you enjoyed meeting our guest. And we sure are hoping you will join our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. The link is below to join the hop. You may also wish to have the hop appear on your blog. The code for that is below as well. It would make Mom and all of us hop with joy if you will link to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge. Many thanks.

I have a client that had some bunnies right off a main highway and people kept dumping their unwanted pet bunnies there. The male bunnies in charge would let any lady bunnies stay but would chase the unwary males onto the road knowing they would get run over. The original ones knew not to go near the road. They are very smart. She set up an enclosed area well away from the road so people don’t know it’s there once she realized what was happening. And now people have quit dumping their unwanted rabbits since they don’t see them any longer and hers are safe now too.

Love the bunny selfies! And that throwback pic is great!

What a beautiful little hare! I used to see them often when I lived in Washington state, but I rarely see them in my Oregon home. I miss them! I hope yours comes back often, so I can get my wild bunny fix.

TW used to have bunnies in the back yard in the old house all the time. The guy who used to help her trap cats in the 80s had bunnies and would let TW hold them.

McGuffy's Reader October 17, 2016 at 9:20 pm

Aww…this reminds me of the wild bunnies that I have bottle fed and released! I love doing their care, too. Even though I cannot socialize them as I do the kittens. *sigh* I still love them, though. I love you guys, too!

Lana_SHON October 17, 2016 at 5:17 pm

Cute and nice! Thanks!

Pipo/Minko/MrJackFreckles October 17, 2016 at 2:29 am

We sometimes see bunnies here too…big and tiny ones in the spring. Dog-guy evects them if he knows they are there…so petctretary has to keep him our=t of the yard where she sees them.
She saw a big bunny when she went on a country amble the other evening…as well as many geese, cranes and other fauna. No camera in her hands or pocket though…her camera is too big to take on strolls and she doesn’t have a smart phone.

Jelly Bean was a cutie!! Your visitor was an obliging camera subject!

Pipo/Minko/MrJackFreckles October 17, 2016 at 2:33 am

And those big glasses, Wow, petcretary didn’t need those then, but when she started to need them to read, they were way smaller…and she doesn’t always like that look either, MOL! She does have a picture of pawppy with big *Really Big* glasses though, OMC!!
You and your Jelly Bean made a nice portrait-selfie:)

Mommy had a white bunny named Ginny when she was young. Now she has scars left from where Ginny scratched her and bit her. She thought Ginny should snuggle up and sleep next to her, and Ginny had other ideas. MOL Have a great weekend.

We are big fans of bunnies in our house as we also have a bunny sister named Lulu. She doesn’t blog much, but maybe she will make an appearance in a future selfie hop.

We love bunnies! We get lots of them in our yard, and the kitties love to watch them. Pup Astrid, the ornery girl, thinks it’s fun to try and chase them on walks. And the human here, she thinks bunnies are just so cute! Purrs, and thank you for hosting this always fun hop!

Annie October 16, 2016 at 9:35 am

Ellen Pilch October 16, 2016 at 9:07 am

That is a great photo of your Mom with the bunny. I am impressed that she was able to save a baby, I have heard the odds are not good for their survival so she did a great job. This little guy did a great selfie too. XO

ATCAD October 16, 2016 at 8:56 am

We didn’t do a selfie this week as Scylla is meowing about National Feral Cat Day but we sure enjoyed your guest selfie. We have tons of rabbits here. One evening Mommy went out after dark (Socks stayed out past curfew so it has been a few years ago, he mainly stays in the house now) and she was down at the pond calling him by the light of the moon and something brushed against her leg. She thought it was Socks so she reached down to pick it up and it was a bunny. We guess he came to tell her thank you for the lettuce she had been putting out. Socks showed up shortly after that.

We do have cute kitten pictures on our post.

The Island Cats October 16, 2016 at 8:45 am

Hello, Mr. Bunny! We had bunnies when I was growing up, they were always fun. I haven’t seen a wild one in a long time, so it was fun to see your guest!

Sammy October 16, 2016 at 4:50 am

Oh bunnies are just so adorable – I get to see one VERY RARELY in our front yard…..I think there are too many predators around (no not me!) and we sadly don’t have a lot of “bun fun” here! Tell your Mom that my Mom wore those “car windshield” (!) glasses too but then EVERYONE did..the bigger the better….it was the style…..(tee hee). Happy Sunday Kitties Blue!

Love, Sammy
