Throughly Poetic Thursday with Angel Sammy and Teddy
We are once again joining these great friends for their fun Thursday event. The prompt letter for the week is “F.” We also had a choice of four words from which we could use as the topic for our poem: 1) Feast; 2) Frog; 3) Frosty; 4) Family. We know that most of you probably expect us to write about our sweet angel, Fiona. But mom didn’t think she could improve on the two poems on our sidebar. So, we selected family. Here is our poem.
Family Love
With our humans, we are a family.
It has nothing to do with ancestry.
Mom says family is about caring and love
And has nothing to do with species and blood.
She’ll do anything for us, no matter the cost,
Even let us pretend that we are her boss.
But let’s stop kidding: We really do control her.
If we want something, we just have to purr.
Or look at her with sad or expectant eyes,
And we will receive our desired prize.
It could be treats or kisses and scritches,
Maybe some nip, a toy…whatever our wish is.
Every cat should have such a devoted family
Where shelter, food and love are priorities.
We wish this for all the felines on this earth…
A special family to let them know their worth

Here are a couple for family photos.
Both of these photos were taken last November when Fiona was still with us. The top photo includes Lily Olivia, Fiona, Mauricio, Lisbeth and Calista Jo in the foreground. The second photo has Lily Olivia, Fiona, Mauricio, Lisbeth and Misty May in the background. Even though we are having a super hot summer, a minimum of four of us are on the bed every night. Do you sleep with your humans?

Thankful Thursday
Today is also the blog hop on Brian’s Home blog when we tell you for what we are thankful. We bet you can guess what that is. That’s right, it is our family. We kitties may not always get along, but we are always well cared for and loved, even when we are little stinkers.
What are you thankful for this week?

Upcoming Excitement
We have lots of exciting things coming up that you won’t want to miss. Tomorrow is our fifth blogoversary. Party Time and time to giveaway some more goodies from the BlogPaws Conference! And Sunday is Allie and Mau’s first wedding anniversary. We will dedicate our Sunday Selfies blog hop to them and have a comment-a-thon. (More details about that on Sunday). Obviously, you are not going to want to miss either of these special posts.
Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
What a beautiful poem! It captures the loves you all share in your family perfectly. Mom Janet is a very talented writer. Sampy sends all his love to Astrid, who he says is his family! You are all our family <3
We miss Eric and Flynn very much – they were one of our favourite bloggers.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Your poetic description of family is so wonderful!
Hey, happy blogoversary tomorrow! And we understand about being thankful for family. It’s great to be together!
That was a beautiful poem. Phoebe wrote about family today too. I love your family photos too, so sweet. XO
A lovely poem. I sleep with my humans more in winter than in the hot summer months.
Such a sweet family. Allie is so honored to be part of it and Mom says she feels like your
Mom is her family too.

Such a beautiful poem! How you described true family is so perfect. And I love the photos! Evan and Eddy almost always sleep in my bed with me, and though Thimble is far more independent, she joins us sometimes, too. Sometimes even housemate Toby leaves his mom’s room to come join us as well. (And I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one who has to sleep like a starfish so that kitties can get cozy in between legs and arms and all that jazz.)
P.S. I used your sweet Fiona as the inspiration for my poem this week. I hope you don’t mind.
Boy, does that bring back memories! I hope you don’t mind my sharing almost the same thing with you! This was taken some time ago but some things remain the same! https://livingwithmyancestors.wordpress.com/2016/03/02/one-word-photo-challenge-bed/
Thanks for sharing. I have so many photos like this. We are lucky that the kitties have adapted to our schedule through the years and sleep at night. Unfortunately they rarely give us enough room to spread out enough for a good rest.
Absolutely we are family. Completely and unequivocally. And my every wish is Mom’s command and she doesn’t mind a bit. I love seeing and hearing about well loved furred family members.
We love this poem. You’re right, we are family…even if we have fur.
What a GREAT poem! Family is so important and those of us who had to “find” our family know that family is in the HEART and not the “genes” !! Love the photos too – you all are one big cuddle pile. I come up to bed with my Mom and Dad every night but don’t stay. I will stay with them until they turn the TV off in the bedroom (they watch a British program before bed every night!)……..when the lights go out, I leave and head to my favorite sleeping spot – MY basement! Mom hopes one day I decide to stay. Have a super Thursday and thanks for joining the poetry fun. We’ll be here to celebrate with you tomorrow!
Love, Teddy
That is a lovely poem and photos. I just saw the Four Legged Furballs poem for Fiona and thought it was so beautiful.
Great poem!
I sleep wif my momma sometimes. Sometimes I sleep in my basket.
I knew you couldn’t help but pick Family for your poem. <3
In spite of my cuddling with patients in my therapy cat work, I don't sleep with the humans – I sleep on the cat tree. Binga and Boodie sleep with them. With those two and the two humans, it's pretty crowded there, even though it's a king sized bed!
