10TH ANNIVERSARY BLOGPAWS CONFERENCE

Day #1:

  • Spent time with lots of our blogging friends and met with some of the brand sponsors.
  • Enjoyed seeing lots of kitties and woofies.
  • Met some cute six-week-old kittens from Kansas City’s Wayside Waifs no-kill shelter.

This is Kelly and Dad Tom. She’s already learned to pose for the paparazzi. Litter mates, Ken, Kevin and Karen were all there as well. Karen is the grey tabby.

  • I made an honor flag for Lily Olivia. Last year I made one for Fiona and one for Sammy (Two Spoiled Cats). To see those flags, click here to go to our blog post, “Glimpses from Blog Paws 2017.”

  • We each received a huge bag of swag, which included this special item for our little PTU Pooper, Sawyer. If you missed that post, you can see it at “Sawyer’s Sleepy Selfie.”

  • Frontline® hosted a happy hour, opening remarks and dinner.

Learning sessions begin tomorrow and more opportunities will be available to meet with the product sponsors.

If you aren’t doing so, you can follow me on Twitter at @KittiesBlue, #BlogPaws.

Thankful Thursday

Each week we enter Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. This week I am thankful for the opportunity to attend the 10th Anniversary BlogPaws Conference. To participate, just tell for what you are thankful on your blog, click on Brian’s badge and link to the hop.

Tomorrow I will report on day two of the conference.

A SPARK OF LAUGHTER

Sparks: Week #28

Sparks #28

This crazy ginger cat makes me laugh everyday. I am grateful for that, as it is difficult to find much funny in today’s world. If not for the antics of Kitties Blue, Dad Tom’s inspired one-liners and the zaniness of The Big Bang Theory, I probably wouldn’t even crack a smile.

William Ray “Bill” Engvall Jr. is the author of today’s Spark. He’s an American comedian and actor best known for his work as a stand-up comic.

I am joining Annie at McGufffy’s Reader for her Sparks blog hop. In establishing the hop, Annie wrote, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!” This is what makes Sparks so special and why I look forward to participating each week.

NO MORE GRUMPY OLD MAN

Sunday Selfies: Week #192

I cannot believe I have not done a selfie since March 3. I have changed a lot in those five-plus weeks. I’m still a crazy kitten at heart, but I no longer look like a grumpy old man. Mom recently learned that Manx cats do not mature until they reach the age of four-and-a-half to five years old. Mom and Dad do not know if they have enough energy in their advanced years to keep up with me. MOL! You can bet I’ll continue to test them.

Anyhoo, here is my selfie.

Sawyer's selfie

Mom asked me if it would be okay if I shared my post. I said, “of course.” After all, Mom is one of the people who feeds me.

Another Sad Good-Bye

Today, we are remembering a kitty you may not know. Foxy was a Cat Scout and friend of Mau and Cooper Murphy. She also spent time living with Lisbeth’s boyfriend, Charles’, family when she was unable to live with her dad. They all loved her very much.

Foxy was a beautiful tortie girl and received her wings yesterday at just 12 years old.

Foxy had a blog, but she didn’t post very often. You can find it at FoxysLife.wordpress.com. If you’d like to visit her blog and leave condolences for Dad Ed, that would be great. If you would rather leave condolences here, we will make certain to forward them to Dad Ed, and Charles’ mom, Inge.

GLASSWORKS ART WITH COOPER MURPHY

Caturday Art

Caturday Art

Cooper Murphy is the subject of today’s art. He had crammed himself into one of the cat tree cubbies on the catio. When dad Tom saw this, he snapped a few photos.

I went back to Painnt this week to create the art. I used the Glassworks filter and changed the hue in the Basic edits. Then I added the grain merge effect with Color Composition and the vivid effect with Coloring. The blue/maroon border was added with Picasa.

Here’s the original photo.

The arty version is our submission in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art blog hop. To join the hop or find links to other art, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies

Here’s your early warning/reminder that tomorrow is the day to put on your best smile and snap a selfie for our blog hop. We look forward to seeing lots of our old friends, and with any luck, some new ones as well.

BFFS: COOPER MURPHY & TEDDY

Friendly Fill-ins: Week #101

1. Living with eight cats keeps me happy and a little crazy.

2. Careful proofreading is the secret to a good blog post.

3. A friend is someone who never judges you and loves you unconditionally.

Friendly Fill-Ins

BFFs Teddy [Two Spoiled Cats] (L) and Cooper Murphy (R)

4. Right now, I am thankful that all Kitties Blue are healthy. Calista Jo still was dealing with eye “icks” during the roundup last week. With additional days of terramycin, they now look better.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) and Ellen (15 And Meowing). You can find the sentences to complete each Thursday on both of their blogs. After posting your completions, enter the hop at Annie’s blog. Click on the Fill-Ins badge at left to go there from here.

My completions are in teal italics.

I also am participating in Feline Friday at Comedy Plus.

PROWLING PUSSY CATS

Throughly Poetic Thursday

Cooper Murphy is our poet this week for Teddy and Angel Sammy’s poetry day at Two Spoiled Cats. Not only did he write the poem, but he also took the liberty of slightly altering the inspiration photo. As Cooper Murphy and Teddy are BFFs, he’s hoping he won’t get into too much trouble for doing this.

This is our altered photo followed by Cooper’s poem.

 ON THE PROWL

We’ve strolled this market,
and our paws are wet.
Why we came here, we now regret.

We’ve searched high & low for silvervine
Or possibly some tasty, fresh nip.
Whatever, it wasn’t worth the trip.

Tomatoes, potatoes, and spinach,
Zucchini, turnips and chard…
All this searching is too hard.

Plodding along with no umbrella,
We’ve meowed with every vendor,
But none had nip or vine to tender.

I was given a carrot, but I’m not a bunny.
A nice lady offered Sawyer some escarole,
But that sounds like something for a mole.

All this walking has made us quite hungry,
And we believe it must be time for dinner
As we feel ourselves getting physically thinner.

With each step our empty tummies
Are loudly rumbling and growling,
So for today we’ll end our prowling.

If the sun is shining bright tomorrow,
We may come back for more searching,
As of nip and vine we are most deserving!

poetry badgeEach week Angel Sammy writes and transmits a poem from the Rainbow Bridge. He is an amazing poet, and we suggest you check out his poem by hopping on over to Two Spoiled Cats. To do so click on his badge. Along with Sammy’s poem you will find links to other poems in the comments.

Thankful Thursday

This is Brian’s weekly blog hop. It gives us the opportunity to share for what we are thankful. Neither Kitties Blue nor I have anything special for which to give thanks. We always are grateful for warmer weather, good friends, good health and a happy family. So that is our share for today.

COOPER MURPHY SPARKS A SMILE

Sparks: Week #27

Smile

Cooper Murphy may not have a huge grin on his face, but whenever I see him, I cannot help but smile. He’s sweet, loving and handsome with a wonderfully expressive face. I hope he makes you smile today.

The author of today’s quote, Anthony (Tony) J. D’Angelo, is founder of Collegiate EmPowerment. He has dedicated his life to helping young adults to create a life worth living. D’Angelo set out on his vision to transform American Higher Education in 1995 at the age of 23. According to D’Angelo “Most students go to school and get a degree but not an education.”

I am joining Annie at McGufffy’s Reader for her Sparks blog hop. In establishing the hop, she wrote this, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!” This is what makes Sparks so special and why I look forward to participating each week.

THE ELUSIVE MISTY MAY

Sunday Selfies: Week #191

Misty May has been more demanding since Lily Olivia passed away. And, like Lily, she does not take,”no,” for an answer…ever! Consequently she was right up in our faces this morning. That made it quite easy to coerce her into taking a selfie. Of course, she looks rather stern. That’s her “go to” expression.

Misty May hosts Sunday Selfies

If you are like Misty May and will do almost anything to avoid taking a selfie, she challenges you to put your best paw forward today and show off for all your friends and followers. There is one specific follower that Misty May hopes will like her selfie.

Let’s Hop!

We were delighted to see so many hoppers last week. We look forward to seeing lots of fuzzy, smiling faces again this week.

If you are new to hopping or just need a refresher course to enter our hop, here are some pointers.

  • The link to add your selfie to the hop is below.
  • You also will find below the code to use if you’d like the hop to appear on your blog.
  • Posting on Sundays is not necessary to join.
  • You do not need to be a cat to enter. All anipals are welcome regardless of species.
  • The hop remains open for entries through Thursday midnight.
  • Please be so kind as to display our badge and/or link to The Cat on My Head.

Thanks to everyone who follows and supports our hop and blog. Your friendship is what keeps the Kitties Blue and me blogging.

Hugs and purrs to all.
