A FELINE SPARK

Sparks: Week #21

sparks #21

Being a blog dedicated to kitties, it seemed appropriate to finally do a Spark post featuring a quote about cats. The photo above features Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Misty May, Mauricio and Giulietta during one of Chris’s biweekly nip fests.

I was unfamiliar with the author of this quote, so I suspect most of you will be as well. The following information is from Wikipedia:

“Henry Charles Bukowski (born Heinrich Karl Bukowski; August 16, 1920 – March 9, 1994) was a German-American poet, novelist, and short story writer. His writing was influenced by the social, cultural, and economic ambience of his home city of Los Angeles. His work addresses the ordinary lives of poor Americans, the act of writing, alcohol, relationships with women, and the drudgery of work. Bukowski wrote thousands of poems, hundreds of short stories and six novels, eventually publishing over 60 books. The FBI kept a file on him as a result of his column, Notes of a Dirty Old Man, in the LA underground newspaper Open City.”

I am joining Annie (McGuffy’s Reader) for her Sparks blog hop. In establishing the hop, she wrote this, “I believe we are meant to be lights in this world. If we allow our light to shine, we can see where we are going. It is then that we can begin to truly see each other clearly. Together, we can light up the entire world!” This is what makes Sparks so special and why I look forward to participating each week.

WRONG PLACE RIGHT TIME

Sunday Selfies: Week #185

Misty May Sunday Selfie

Misty May, being Misty May, had a lot to say about having to do the selfie this week. She tried to hide among and under the newspaper to escape the inevitable, but both Dad Tom and I saw her. Tom shoved his phone at her, and she actually got a good photo of herself. She usually refuses to look anywhere near the screen.

Her complaint is that Lisbeth was naughty this week and so should have had to take the selfie. Sawyer was bad last week and had to do the selfie, so I see her point. But sometimes it just comes down to being in the right wrong place at the right time.

I’m feeling a bit under the weather so this is going to be a short post. Kitties Blue are looking forward to seeing all your selfies. Here are some hop tips for those who are new to Sunday Selfies.

TWO TABBIES SNOOZY ART

Caturday Art

Caturday Art

Sawyer adores his big brother, Cooper Murphy. He has been Cooper’s shadow since he arrived; though, he is starting to assert his independence a bit more. Of course, as I say that, he just arrived on the bed and took up a very similar position to the one in the above photo.

Caturday Art

Here’s the original photo of the boys.

As you can see, I went back to Painnt again this week to create my art. The app has so many options for editing each filter, and it completes the art quickly. This week I selected the Amsterdam filter. That added the swirly effect and turned the original photo black and white. I wanted color so elected “original” in the Color Composition section. Then to bump up the color even more, I selected “sunny” from the Coloring section. The border is from piZap.

We are joining the gorgeous Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty for her Caturday Art blog hop. If you haven’t tried creating art or entering this hop, what are you waiting for? Oodles of free photo-editing apps are available for you to use and explore your creativity. If you’d like to join in the fun or just enjoy the creations of others, click on Athena’s badge.

Sunday Selfies Blog Hop

Every week for us, selfies follow art. If this whole selfies folderol was fair, Lisbeth would have to do the selfie tomorrow, as she was the bad cat this week. But, no… For some reason she was given a pass. Misty May will be here as your host tomorrow. Looking forward to having lots of you join us.

LISBETH APOLOGIZES & FILL-INS

A Note from Lisbeth

Before getting to the Friendly Fill-Ins for this week, Lisbeth has a few words to say.

fill-ins

If Mom and Dad can’t forgive me, I am shipping myself to Charles.

I am sorry I scared my mom and dad and boyfriend Charles so badly by going missing on Wednesday for 11 hours. Delivery men who brought and set up Mom and Dad’s new bed frightened me. I didn’t know I was doing something bad. Staying safe from strangers was my priority. Mom says that I am grounded for life, but I am promising to never do anything like this ever again. I hope she and Dad will forgive me and continue to allow me to attend Cat Scout events with Charles.

I also want too apologize to all our friends and readers for scaring them as well. Mom and Dad and I appreciate all the prayers for my safe return home. Mom says that the pet blogging community is like a huge, loving family, and we appreciate having each of you in our lives.

With sincere apologies, Lisbeth

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week #94

The kitties are helping me with the fill-ins this week by completing numbers 1 and 2. We all have used teal italics for our completions.

Kitties Blue: 1. My Our favorite president is President Abraham Lincoln because he was the first president known to have cats in the White House. Mary Todd Lincoln claimed that cats were her husband’s hobby.

Mau & Cooper Murphy: 2. This weekend, I we have plans to go to Egypt with Cat Scouts. This will be great. Cats were revered in ancient Egypt just as they should be today!

3. I 💗 my Kitties Blue past and present. If you have never met all the previous Kitties Blue, click on The Felines tab at the top of the page.

4. I believe in silver linings. Thankfully Lisbeth is now inside where she belongs. Even this blessing came with a silver lining. Lisbeth could have gotten in the delivery truck that was here on Wednesday and ended up 30 miles away at the truck’s next stop. I had horrible visions of her being lost so far away.

Friendly Fill-Ins is a blog hop hosted by Ellen (15 And Meowing) and Annie (McGuffy’s Reader). To take part in then hop, click on their badge. You will be whisked away to Annie’s blog.

LISBETH IS HOME

Thankful Thursday

This is the best Thankful Thursday ever. Lisbeth is home. She showed up at about 2 a.m. Mom apologizes for not writing a new post then, but she was totally exhausted from worry and “beating herself up” for letting Lisbeth have the opportunity to get lost.

Dad Tom asked Lisbeth where she had been. She refused to answer.

I am sorry I frightened my Mom and Dad. Thank you to everyone who prayed for me to come home.

Thank you every one for all your prayers, purrs, POTP, love and support.

We are joining Brian’s Thankful Thursday blog hop. This is one of the biggest thankfuls ever.

SPARKS OF OPTIMISM

Sparks: Week #20

Sparks of Optimism

I was a pessimist growing up and well into my adult life. My reasoning was that if I never expected anything good to happen, I would never be disappointed or dissatisfied with an outcome. Conversely, if something turned out well, I would be surprised and delighted. A variety of things have occurred in the past 20 years that have influenced my thinking.

An optimist is a person who tends to be hopeful and confident about the future or the success of something. Though no longer a pessimist, I wouldn’t call myself an optimist. But I do try to see the silver lining in every occurrence, good or bad.

I was not familiar with Nicholas M. Butler before finding this quote. As you may not know about him either, here’s a bit of information from Wikipedia.

Nicholas Murray Butler (April 2, 1862 – December 7, 1947) was an American philosopher, diplomat and educator. Butler was the 12th president of Columbia University (1902-1945), president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

This is another of Dad Tom’s photos. It was taken just outside the catio.
