RAINY DAY POEM

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It’s Thursday, so that means it is time to give thanks as well as write a poem. Mom is particularly tired and says her brain hurts. It’s a long, boring story, so I’ll spare you the agony of hearing it. Once again, however, I have been forced to take over the challenge of writing the week’s poem. When I say challenge, I really mean nearly impossible chore. Sorry Teddy and Angel Sammy, but “X” as a prompt makes for a certain amount of head scratching, in an attempt to come up with some inspiration. As we did 26 weeks ago, I am cheating by using “EX” and just going with the appropriate sound. I cannot claim to be proud of my effort, but it gets the job done.

Extremely Rainy Day

I’m no expert, but I know one thing:
All this rain we’re having is extreme!
The puddles are up past my knees.
They’d surely drown if I had any fleas.
The squirrels are soaked and bedraggled.
I’m certain they are tired and frazzled,
Trying to eat in these terrible downpours
Hanging from the birdfeeder by all fours,
The amount of water falling is excessive,
And I’m beginning to feel quite depressive.
All I want to do is lie around and nap
And snuggle in my mom’s warm lap.
Now that last is exceptionally sublime,
And I wish I could do it all the time.
But I’d rather see some sun and play.
So, please, oh please, rainy day go away.

We’ve had two inches of rain in the last 24 hours. We all are feeling soggy and grumpy. Nonetheless, I do have some things for which to be thankful.

Thankful Thursday

We are delighted that our humans were only gone elebenty thousands days; though, we are not thrilled that Dad Tom has left again for what is bound to be at least two or three decades. We have, however, promised the mom we won’t complain, except maybe about the fact that all that BlogPaws loot remains behind closed doors. Well, all but that incredible tower/sphere. It has remained occupied 24/7, except for when we are eating breakfast and dinner. Here’s proof—me enjoying a snooze.
