BITE ME: PART 2

Tuesday Doozy of a Snoozy

We celebrated Astrid and Lisbeth’s birthdays about two weeks ago by gifting them with a new shark bed. If you missed the first Bite Me post, you can read it here.

At the time, Miss Antisocial Lisbeth stayed away. However, the very next day we found her enjoying a snoozy in shark’s big mouth!

Bite Me Part 2

Fiona also has found the bed quite to her liking. Unfortunately the H-O-T-S have returned, and Fiona is the only one who has taken advantage of its snuggly plushiness for the last few days.

I’m pretty certain that once the cooler temps set in a line will form to get bit by Mr. Shark, and I’ll have lots more Doozy of a Snoozy photos to share.

REMEMBERING OUR ANGELS SELFIES

Sunday Selfies: Week #107

Remembrance Day 8.28.2016 Angels

First, I must apologize: I promised a guest host for today, but I had forgotten that the 28th is reserved for Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. So, our guest will be here next week. This week we are featuring the nine Kitties Blue and one honorary Kitty Blue who have their angel wings. Each are featured on our The Felines page as well where you can read their short bios.

Here are the nine who came before.

Our nine angels.

Each had his or her own unique personality, and they all hold a special place in my heart. I will love them always. I have a little memorial for our angels in one of our backyard gardens, which I will share on another day.

And here is our honorary Kitty Blue, Nylablue, who is also a beautiful angel. We were so honored to have her as part of our family. Losing her was like losing one of my own kitties. She too is featured on The Felines page.

Angel Nylablue

We have lost many furry friends during the four years we have been blogging. You can see many of them on our Remembering Friends page. We think of them fondly everyday but especially today.

Cat4-001Though a bit unconventional, this is our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop. Please feel free to include one of your angels in the hop this week if you like. This, of course, is not a requirement but rather an opportunity to share. As always the link to add your selfie and the code to include the hop on your blog are below. And also, as always, if you decide to do the latter, please include our badge or link back to The Cat on My Head. If you have any trouble linking up, leave us a comment. I am always happy to add your selfie.

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day was created by Deb Barnes (Zee and Zoey’s Cat Chronicles) in memory and honor of her kitty, Jazz. We are honored to display her badge at the beginning of our post. She too is having a blog hop today. Click on the link above to add your angel(s) to her hop.

Have a blessed Sunday as you remember those you have lost but will hold forever in your heart.

LISBETH IN LIVING COLOR

Caturday Art

Lisbeth claims she has not been getting enough face time on the blog, which is probably true. As I have written before, she is not the most sociable cat. But she is gorgeous and should have her fair share of blog time, especially as I know her boyfriend, Cat Scout Charles, enjoys seeing her.

To create Lisbeth’s arty photo, I used a custom filter in Dreamscope. Then I used the Boost feature in Picasa and added the borders using Picasa.

Lisbeth is standing in front and to the right of the catmint plant. The photo taken was shortly after we bought the plant. Lisbeth had been browsing shortly before that. You can see that photo here. The plant was big then (just over three weeks ago), but now it is HUGE as you can see in this photo. It will soon be time to harvest.

This is our submission in this week’s Caturday Art Blog Hop hosted by the lovely Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty. To enter some art of your own in the hop and/or view the other submissions, click on the link.

Sunday Selfies

Cat4-001Tomorrow is the day we all look forward to…Sunday, when we can take it easy. But we always post a selfie on our blog hop and look forward to all our friends doing the same. We will have a guest host tomorrow. You may have seen this critter previously, but you’ll need to return tomorrow to see who it is. We certainly appreciate everyone who enters each week. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

NATIONAL WOOFIE DAY & FILL-INS

Today Kitties Blue are wishing all our woofie friends happy National Dog Day™. We selected Calista Jo to represent us.

Fill-Ins

Friendly Fill-Ins: Week 16

Once again we are entering this blog hop hosted by Ellen from 15 And Meowing and Annie from McGuffy’s Reader. You can enter a link to your fill-in post on Annie’s blog. As usual our fill-ins are in teal italics. We kitties let the petretary complete the fill-ins this week.

1. I wish insurance companies would bring back $100 deductibles! I had what is commonly referred to as a fender bender a couple of days ago to the tune of $3500. I now have a $500 deductible to pay. I may be dipping into the kitties treat fund (please don’t tell) to pay it.

2. An act of kindness that I do often is donate to animal charities and rescues and individual animals in need. I also continue to sponsor the kitties’ honorary sisfur, Swizzle, at PAWS.

3.  I still have a tiny gold locket from my childhood.

4. If I didn’t have my supportive and loving husband, I’d be completely lost.

SAMPY, MY ONE TRUE LOVE

Two days ago, Sampson (Kitty Cat Chronicles) and I celebrated the two month anniversary of our marriage. With that in mind, I asked Mom if I could write the poem for Sammy‘s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday. Our prompt letter for this week is “K.” Without unnecessary additional preamble here is my poem.

 Ode to My Husband

Sampy is my knight in shining armor.
He is gentle and kind and a charmer.
I am super proud to be his Missus.
When he writes he always sends me kisses.
A quadrillion kisses are never too many.
If for each one I had even a penny,
I ‘d be the richest kitty in the world.
But I don’t need money as I’m Sampy’s girl.
Sampy encourages me to be brave and strong.
With his love and support I can’t go wrong.
I am learning to chase my sisfurs away
When they try to bug me day after day.
Sampy has my heart. He’s my one true love.
Every night I pray to the stars above
We’ll have years and years to be together,
As I know our love will last forever and ever.

So no problem with that “K” prompt: knight, kind, kisses and kitty!

love

Purrs and paw-pats, Astrid with love, kisses and purrs to my husband Sampy

PAWLYMPICS COME TO A CONCLUSION

Pawlympics2016+LARGE-1

We were so fortunate to have the opportunity to compete in this year’s Blogville Pawlympics. We had oodles of fun. Our only regret is that the petretary only entered us in a few events. Nonetheless, we wanted to share with you our competitors and events.

Both Mauricio and Fiona entered the Balance Beam Competition hosted by Wyatt and Tegan.

Four of us entered the Raspberries/Tongue Curling Competition at The Adventures of Noodle. The competition was really tough, but we think Fiona, Giulietta, Astrid and Lisbeth acquitted themselves quite well.

Our next event was Gymnastic Bathing hosted by Toby’s Wrecking Crew. For whatever reason, the petretary only entered Astrid in this competition. We know that Lily Olivia is excellent at this event as well. Guess she’ll have to wait until next year. Toby’s mommy made great graphics for all the entrants.

Our final event was Snuggling hosted by Margs Animals. Our entrants were Calista Jo and Lisbeth (when did that happen?) and Astrid and Mauricio.

We are expurrts at Sunpuddle Bathing, and we had our photos ready to enter the competition, but somehow the petretary didn’t get them to Madi. Pffft!

All Pawlympians earned gold medals. After viewing the competitors’ entries in each event, we feel all entrants definitely deserved nothing less than gold.

We’d like to thank all those who hosted the 2016 Blogville Pawlympics. It was pawsome, and we had lots of fun and are already looking forward to next year.

SWIZZLICIOUS SUNDAY SELFIE

Sunday Selfies Blog Hop : Week #106

Today we have a guest host, but she isn’t really a guest as she is our honorary sisfur, Swizzle. But as she doesn’t actually live with us, she is sort of a guest.

Whatever you decide to call her, it best include the word beautiful or lovely. Actually not enough superlatives exist to describe her. But we’ll let you decide for yourselves.

PAWS cat Swizzle

Swizzle lives at PAWS of Connecticut. We first introduced you to her more than two years ago on July 24, 2014 when we began sponsoring her. We have written about her many times since then with the hope of finding her a home. We will sponsor her as long as she remains at PAWS even if that is the remainder of her life. But we pray for her that will not be her fate!

Swizzle and all the other PAWS’ kitties are very lucky as our good blogging friends, Tracey and Kevin (meowmeowmans at Animal Shelter Volunteer Life) are volunteers at PAWS. They always give Swizzle extra loving from us, and Kevin sends us photos of her when he can. We received several new ones a couple of days ago. We selected this one for today due to her head tilt and coquettish expression. We have several others which we will share in the coming weeks.

Swizzle would make a great kitty for a senior citizen looking for a special companion. If any of our readers know of someone looking for a mature kitty, please tell them about our honorary sisfur. To learn more about Swizzle, you can visit the PAWS website. You can also see all the posts we have written about her by searching Swizzle on this blog. The search box is at the bottom of our left sidebar.

Cat4-001It’s now your turn to share your selfie or one of an anipal friend or acquaintance on the blog hop. The link is below as is the code to include the hop on your blog. Purrlease link back to The Cat on My Head and/or display our badge if you do this. And let us know in a comment or e-mail if you have any problems linking up. Mom will make sure you are included. Many thanks to everyone who continues to support and pawticipate in our hop!

Now that you’ve taken care of your selfie, kick back, take it easy and enjoy the last day of the Olympics.

Purrs and paw-pats, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

TROPICAL STORM FIONA

Caturday Art

The petretary (AKA Mom) thought I should be the representative for Caturday Art today. She had another of her harebrained ideas. She was going to try to turn me into some kind of storm-ravished feline. In case you missed the news, the most recent tropical storm in the Atlantic is named after me: FIONA.

Fortunately for me, Mom’s idea did not come to fruition. She actually achieved some stormy looking creations in Dreamscope, but I wasn’t recognizable. I vetoed showing those. Here is what I selected to share.

Fiona Cat Art on International Homeless Animals' Day

IMG_4419We started with this photo. Mom did use the Headcut Portrait feature in Dreamscope, which gave us the black and white image. We both liked it but thought it needed to be highlighted by a bit of color, so we added the Celebrate filter as well as a light blue scroll border in piZap. The latter does not show up very well after the addition of the frame from Photofacefun.

This is our submission in Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty’s Caturday Art Blog Hop. This is a super fun hop. If you haven’t entered, give it a whirl. There are oodles of free photo-editing apps you can use. Mom often uses more than one app on a photo as she did here. To enter some art in the hop and/or view that of other pawticipants, click on Athena’s badge.

International Homeless Animals’ Day®

My housemates and I are all very thankful to have a great home with plenty of noms, love, toys, nip and appropriate vet care. But we know many animals are not as fortunate as we are. Today we want to give our thanks to all those caring humans who give their time and efforts to supporting TNR, maintaining feral colonies, fostering and helping homeless animals in any way they can. In our eyes you are angels!

Sunday Selfies Reminder

Don’t forget to start planning your selfie for tomorrow so you can join our super fun blog hop. All anipals are welcome, even those who aren’t pets.

Cat4-001Thanks to our good friend Kevin (AKA meowmeowmans) we have some new photos of our honorary sisfur, Swizzle, who we sponsor at PAWS of Connecticut. Consequently, she will be your host tomorrow. If you are new to our blog or the hop and haven’t met her, you don’t want to miss this opportunity.  She is a true beauty. We’d be over the moon if she could have her very own home and people, but we are super thankful she is not one of the homeless.

Until then…purrs and paw-pats, Fiona
