#TEAMCAT TRIFECTA SELFIES

Today for our Sunday Selfies we are giving you a three-fer. Mom and Dad were chasing all of us around the kitchen trying to get at least one of us to take a selfie with the #TEAMCAT sign. Three of us agreed with varying results. Do you think it is a coincidence that it’s the three of us who have significant others? We sure hope Charles, Sampy and Allie enjoy seeing us today.

So what is the Lucy Bowl, you ask?

The Lucy Bowl is a commercial scheduled to air on Super Bowl Sunday with a goal to raise awareness of the 80,000 U.S. pets euthanized each week due to overpopulation. The Lucy Pet Foundation’s founder, Joey Herrick, created the commercial. The mission of The Foundation is to reduce pet overpopulation by having mobile spay/neuter clinics across the country and to support causes that benefit animal welfare.

If you love animals, or want to learn more about pet overpopulation, you should check out The Lucy Bowl. The commercial will run today (Super Bowl Sunday) during Kitten Bowl II, airing on The Hallmark Channel three times starting at noon to 9 p.m. (11 p.m. in the Central Time Zone). The Lucy Pet Foundation’s goal with their dogs versus cats football game-themed commercial is to forever change the way America looks at cats and dogs.

The Lucy Pet Foundation is using social media to help spread the word about The Lucy Bowl. Using hashtags, #TeamCat and #TeamDog, kitties and woofies have formed alliances, taken photos and posted on TwitterFacebookInstagramPinterest. It’s not too late to join in on the fun. Take a picture of you/your animal with a sign indicating your choice: #TeamCat or #TeamDog and make sure you add the hashtag #TheLucyBowl. Additional hashtags you can use include #TheLucyBowl, #DogsvsCats and #KittenBowl. You can post until 12 noon PST today for the chance to win an iPad mini. All the details can be found here.

We are celebrating six months of posting our Sunday Selfies Blog Hop! We didn’t know what to expect when we started it. We are super thrilled that so many of you have decided it is fun and continue to join us each week.

Last week we had 58 entries (including our own). That bested our previous number of participants by 11. Thanks to all who joined us. We hope you will continue to add your selfies to the blog hop and encourage your furiends to do so as well. As a reminder, if you have adoptable cats for whom you are seeking homes, this is an excellent opportunity to showcase them.

If you would like to display the entries on your blog, you can grab the code below. Purrlease display our badge and/or link back to The Cat on My Head if you do so.

Purrlease join us tomorrow to hear about Mom and Dad’s help in transporting FIV+ Jazzy and Bogie to their furever home and to see photos of them meeting Sharkie and Blue.
